About FYI
Daily news, explained simply — one card at a time.
FYI is a daily news app built for people who want to understand the news rather than just scroll past it. Every day, FYI picks the stories that actually matter and rewrites them as short, plain-English cards you can read in a couple of minutes.
How it works
Most news assumes you already know the background. FYI doesn't. Each story opens as a single card with the essentials, and underneath it sits a layer of questions — the ones you would actually ask if a well-informed friend were explaining it to you. Tap a question and you get a straight answer; tap again for a deeper explanation.
- Short by default. The top card is the whole story in a few lines.
- Deeper on demand. Layered Q&A explainers sit under every story.
- Eight topics. Politics, economy, business, world, sports, tech, climate and health.
- Tuned to you. Pick the topics you care about and the daily mix follows.
- Learn mode. Go from headline-literate to genuinely well-read on a subject.
Who makes it
FYI is built in India by Sriram. It is an independent product, not part of a media group, and it is funded by the people who use it rather than by chasing clicks. That is deliberate: an app paid for by attention has to keep you scrolling, and an app that explains the news well should let you finish and get on with your day.
